Vehicle Sourcing
GT Street can help source vehicles on your behalf, both from within Australia and from overseas markets. Whether you are after a specific performance platform, a project car, or a well-optioned everyday vehicle, we manage the search and coordination so you do not have to.
Want us to build the car too, not just find it? See Buy and Build.
Important: road registration
GT Street cannot currently road register an imported vehicle on your behalf. If you are considering an international purchase, this needs to be factored into your plan from the outset. We can talk through what is involved and connect you with the right people, but compliance, registration and approval to drive on Australian roads sits outside what GT Street currently manages directly. Vehicles sourced domestically within Australia and already registered do not carry this limitation.
Two sourcing pathways
Depending on what you are chasing, budget and timeline, sourcing generally falls into one of two categories. Both are handled the same way from your side: tell us the details, and we manage the process.
Domestic sourcing (Australia)
We search dealer stock, private listings, auction platforms and trade networks across Australia to find vehicles matching your brief. This is the more straightforward pathway since the vehicle is already road legal in Australia and no import compliance is required.
What this typically covers
- Late model and used performance cars, utes, 4x4s and daily drivers
- Project cars and platforms suited to a wheels, suspension or exhaust build
- Trade and dealer network access beyond public listings
- Pre-purchase inspection coordination where required
- Negotiation on your behalf
Typical timeline
Domestic sourcing timelines vary with how specific the brief is, but a well-defined search is often resolved in a matter of weeks.
International sourcing
For customers chasing a specific model, spec, generation or condition not readily available in Australia, we can help source vehicles from key overseas markets including Japan, the UK, Europe and the US, depending on the vehicle and its eligibility.
What this typically covers
- Sourcing through overseas auction houses and trusted trade contacts
- Coordinating shipping and freight logistics to Australia
- Guidance on eligibility under Australian import rules for the vehicle you are chasing
- Coordination with customs, quarantine and import brokers as required
What GT Street does not currently manage
Road registration of the imported vehicle. This means compliance work, ADR approval and the final registration step are not something GT Street handles directly at this stage. If road registration is part of your plan, this needs to be arranged separately, and we recommend confirming your pathway to registration before committing to an international purchase.
How the process works
Regardless of whether the vehicle comes from within Australia or overseas, the process starts the same way.
1. Brief
Tell us the make, model, generation, spec, budget, intended use and whether you are buying personally or through a business. The more specific the brief, the faster and more accurate the search.
2. Search & shortlist
We search relevant domestic or international channels, shortlist genuine options and present these to you with pricing, condition notes and any known history.
3. Purchase & coordination
Once you confirm a vehicle, we coordinate the purchase, negotiate where appropriate, and manage shipping and logistics for international vehicles. Finance through Mako Partners can be discussed at this stage if required.
Looking for a specific vehicle?
Send us the details, including whether you are open to international sourcing, and we will confirm how we can assist and what the realistic pathway looks like. Want the build handled too? Mention that and we'll treat it as a Buy and Build enquiry.
